In 2023 they hired a Meta (Facebook) VP of Engineering, David Wei, to run all engineering operations at Turing (he’s listed as head of R&D on his LinkedIn).

Turing's most recent private fundraising round was oversubscribed and valued the company at $1.1 billion.

Check Out Arc.dev For Developers Who Are Active Online

If you want to access developers around the world who are active in the online developer community, you should check out Arc.dev.

Overview of Arc.dev

Arc.dev was launched in 2019 by the team behind Codementor, an online education platform for software developers. Its investors include Techstars, 500 Startups, and WI Harper.

Arc has two major features businesses can use:

  1. its smart remote job search engine
  2. its managed developer community.

To find employees, Arc crawls job boards and other sites for its database. They also source from their list of experts they’ve established through Codementor as well as top posters on popular forums like Stack Overflow.

The company claims to so far have aggregated 54,000 developer openings from 13,000 companies.

Arc.dev’s Strengths and Specializations

Arc claims to be able to help you hire a full-time developer within 14 days.

Arc has two tiers of service:

  1. A curated matchmaking service (similar to Upwork but with stricter standards) for hourly or part-time roles. This has two plans:

                  a. A three-month minimum subscription plan ($999 per month) that lets you match with their candidate pool and interview yourself.

                   b. An “unlimited tier” with an unspecified price where they say they’ll custom-source your talent and give you one of their recruiters to help you.

       2. Permanent full-time roles. Arc works on a fee-per-hire basis based on annual salary, with a three-month guarantee. If you don’t like your developer in the first            three months they’ll match you with another free of charge (though you’ll still pay the normal fee).

  1. Retainer: You specify the minimum number of hours per week and weeks you will need the developer, and Arc will invoice you the fixed amount weekly unless otherwise agreed upon.
  2. Hourly: The developer will log hours every day, and we will invoice you weekly. The developer’s availability might change from week to week.

How to Know Which Nearshore Software Developer is Best For You

As you can see, there are a ton of different providers out there with different specializations. But if you just need a general full-stack or frontend developer and aren’t particularly sure which country to source from, where do you go?

Our advice – try to work with the business that gives you vetted talent at the most transparent prices. And look for one that will work with you to find what you specifically need instead of ramming the highest priced developer they can find into your team.

That’s the kind of service we offer with TECLA's nearshore staff augmentation service. We give you personalized help connecting your business to our carefully vetted and trained nearshore developers.

How do nearshore software development companies differ from offshore and onshore companies?
Offshoring and onshoring companies specifically focus on helping businesses shift business from one region to another. Nearshoring companies in contrast help you keep operations in your current location while helping you find remote workers who can for you more cost-effectively.
What are the benefits of partnering with a nearshore software development company?
While hiring across borders can be extremely cost-effective, it can be extremely complicated without the right partner. A good nearshoring business can help you assess and even train quality talent as well as help you with legal aspects like payroll and taxes.
How do I choose the best nearshore software development company for my business needs?
To choose the right company, you’ll need to first understand exactly what type of developer you’re looking for and whether or not you want to hire them: ● Full-time ● Part-time ● Or per-project Once you know these things, you’ll be able to much more easily break down which businesses are suited to your needs. After that, you’ll probably need to get on the phone to decide which company you vibe with.
